Corporal Yakuku Dankaduna, the soldier allegedly killed by the Defendants, was travelling in convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, during the December 2015 bloody clash between Shi’ites and soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna State.
El-Zakzaky, his wife, Yakub Katsina and Sanusi Koki, were named in the charge sheet marked KDH/KAD/60C/2018 and dated April 18, 2018.
The charges carry the death penalty.
THEWILL recalls that El Zakzaky and his wife have been in the custody of the Department of State Security Services since 2016 following their arrest. The federal government said it is holding the couple in protective custody as police battle protesting members of the sect in Abuja who want their leader and wife released unconditionally as ordered by multiple courts.
