August 31, (THEWILL) – Dennis RodmanAn upcoming movie that plans to detail a trip to Las Vegas that iconic basketball player Dennis Rodman made in the 1997-98 season when the Bulls won the championship, is in the works and will be a treat for fans interested in more details about the star.
Rodman had featured in the 2020 ESPN documentary of that title-winning run “The Last Dance” that chronicled the Chicago Bulls dynasty of the 1990s and focused on Michael Jordan. Segments with Rodman were among the most memorable of the documentary.
Now, as one of the executive producers of his own movie, Rodman’s “48 Hours in Vegas”, will leave out much of the off-court headlines, to focus on the basketball’s critical part of Chicago’s second three-peat.
As presented in a movie format, the story will show viewers how Rodman was the ideal complement to Jordan and Scottie Pippen and train the spotlight on a player who is arguably the best rebounder in NBA history as a whole.
Rodman was also renowned for his defense. It was that quality which was key against Karl Malone and his remarkable teammates during the 1998 NBA Finals win over the Utah Jazz which added to the glory of the Bulls in that season.
Nicknamed “The Worm”, Rodman was a seven-time rebounding champion, five-time NBA champion, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time All-NBA selection, eight-time All-Defensive honoree and two-time All-Star.
He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on August 12, 2011. The Detroit Pistons retired the jersey number 10 in his honour on April 1 that same year.
THEWILL notes that this will not be Rodman’s first starring role as had lead roles in the action films such as the 1997 “Double Team” and 1999’s “Simon Sez.”
However, both films were critically panned, with “Simon Sez” earning Rodman a triple Razzie Award, an which honours the worst of cinematic under-achievements.
