September 01, (THEWILL) – Following the ruling by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Olorogun David Edevbie, was recognised as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Delta State 2023 general elections. However, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, the Court of Appeal in Abuja set aside that ruling, prompting Edevbie’s decision to challenge the Appeal Court judgement at the Supreme Court, where he hopes to get justice.

Addressing his campaign team and his supporters at his campaign office in Asaba, the State capital, on Wednesday, 31st August, 2022, Olorogun Edevbie thanked the people for keeping faith with him despite all odds. Edevbie, who was represented by the Director General of his campaign team, Chief Clement Ofuani, said the mammoth crowd was a reaffirmation of their faith in his Governorship candidacy, noting that the meeting was the first since after the Guber primary in May this year.

Chief Ofuani stated that over the past seven years, Deltans had seen the demerits of incompetent leadership, accentuated by insecurity, poverty, unemployment, hunger and starvation, as well as neglect of the education sector.

He added that the situation was becoming unbearable, especially for the youths who are now very worried. He said the youths have identified David Edevbie as one of the trusted leaders that can revamp the economy of Delta State.

Chief Ofuani reminded everyone of Olorogun Edevbie’s plan to reserve 35% and 25% of all political appointments in Delta State for women and youths respectively. He told the gathering that David Edevbie came into the governorship race knowing full well that it would not be easy, so he was fully prepared.

He, therefore, encouraged the Edevbie Campaign team and his supporters not to despair, because Olorogun David Edevbie is competent, capable and able to modernise Delta State in record time. He appealed to the supporters to redouble their efforts, as there is still more work to do ahead of the 2023 elections. He said in February 2023, when the campaign would start in earnest, the PDP would be facing candidates from other political parties, necessitating the need for all to work harder.

Speaking further, Chief Clement Ofuani noted that the David Edevbie movement has become a revolution designed to improve the quality of leadership in Delta State and to ensure that the masses are well catered for. He charged everyone present at the meeting to, as a matter of commitment, go back to their various polling units to win over the remaining least 490 voters ahead of the 2023 Guber election.

For his part, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Protem Chairman of Delta Unity Group, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, commended Edevbie’s supporters for their hard work, and for marketing Olorogun David Edevbie before the primary election. He said Edevbie came second in the May primary due to the effort of the coordinators who campaigned vigorously for him. He said the Appeal Court judgement has given Edevbie and his team more hope, and urged the Director General, Chief Ofuani, to sustain the existing campaign structure to enable David Edevbie win the 2023 governorship election.

Also speaking, a member of the Edevbie Think Tank group, Olorogun Dr Isaac Akpoveta, told the crowd that from day one, he chested out for Olorogun David Edevbie, who he said has all it takes to be the next Governor of Delta State. He said it was unfortunate that statutory delegates were not allowed to vote in the Primary after they had been duly consulted by Edevbie and his team.

Dr Akpoveta assured the people that the Supreme Court would correct the wrong ruling given by the Appeal Court, judging by its wordings. He thanked the teeming supporters for attending the meeting one day after the Appeal Court gave its lopsided judgement, and urged them not to relent in their support for the Edevbie governorship agenda.

The Delta Central Coordinator of Olorogun David Edevbie Campaign Organisation, Prince GodwIn Ejinyere, who spoke in the same vein, described Edevbie as the best to represent the PDP as its candidate for the 2023 governorship election, and appealed to all to stand up for his mandate.

The Warri South West coordinator of David Edevbie Campaign Organisation, Mr Godwin Tuoyo, expressed joy that all members of the team attended the meeting because they believed in Olorogun Edevbie despite the miscarriage of justice by the Appeal Court.

Another former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olisa Imegwu, expressed his anger over PDP’s failure to demonstrate good leadership, and urged the supporters of the David Edevbie revolution to sustain their stand pending the Supreme Court’s judgement.

A notable leader from Orogun clan in Ughelli North LGA, Chief Barr. Andy Osawota, swore never to withdraw his choice of David Edevbie as the next Governor of Delta State, describing Edevbie as the right and best choice.

Almost all the principal officers of Olorogun David Edevbie Campaign Organisation, as well as supporters of the Edevbie revolution from the 25 LGAs of the State, attended the Edevbie solidarity meeting.
