Dean Henderson Considering Man Utd Exit Not Loan Move

November 16, (THEWILL) – Dean Henderson has been told by Manchester United that he can move out on loan until 2023, but the player has shown a preference to depart on a permanent basis.

THEWILL recalls that last season, Henderson and David De Gea battled for the role of first-choice goalkeeper at United, but the England international has only made one start since May, which was in the EFL Cup.

Since the start of the season, the 24-year-old has grown increasingly dissatisfied and is concerned about his place in the Three Lions’ squad especially with the performances of Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

In the long run, Gareth Southgate would like to be able to rely on Henderson, but his problems for first-team football will make it tough for him to keep his position in the group – something the England manager has mentioned in the past.

Henderson has spoken to United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his future, and while the Norwegian did not provide him any guarantees, he has stated that the club will enable him to leave on a long-term loan, despite the fact that Henderson is under contract until 2025.

Given that there is no indication that the club is ready to move on from current number one De Gea, the 24-year-old is sceptical about the merits of a long-term loan and would prefer to achieve a permanent move.

De Gea is under contract with United until 2023, and he is back to the form that led to him being named the club’s highest-paid player.

The club has approached De Gea’s representatives about a contract extension; they do not want to lose him for nothing now that he has established himself to be a significant contributor for the club. De Gea is said to be content with life in Manchester and is willing to devote the rest of his career to the Red Devils if the opportunity arises, as is expected.

As such, Henderson is currently considering a January transfer. Several clubs, notably new moneybags Newcastle United, are keen to sign him.
