He has positively influenced and affected more lives than some of the wealthiest men in Nigeria. Despite his insatiable appetite for anything in skirt and his ever-increasing baby making capacity, the Davido Music Worldwide, DMW boss knows how to channel his wealth in the right direction to help humanity. One admirable trait about him is the fact that he doesn’t advertise his philanthropic act. It is those he has helped that can attest to his generosity and also when the media makes it their affair.
He definitely deserves to be awarded the most generous artiste in the industry. His generosity even extends to people he does not know. His fellow celebrities are not left out among the people who have drunk from his milk of kindness and wealth.
Not too long ago, one Jide Sanyaolu otherwise known as Ojaysanya who just graduated from Afe Babalola University, openly thanked the ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ crooner for being instrumental to the successful completion of his education. This is not the first time that he would be lending a hand of support in financing someone’s education. He once awarded scholarship up to the highest level of education to Utibe, a boy who sang one of his hit singles in a video that went viral. Utibe dropped out of school because of financial constraints and was always miming songs until Davido noticed. However, Davido also ensured that he and his mom left the make shift shelter that housed them to a modern place he built for the family of five. No other benevolence can be greater than offering hope to a single mother. Not forgetting a teenage saxophonist, Temidayo Abodunrin, got the sum of 500,000 from the singer after playing ‘Jowo’ with a sax. Even those in need of medical aid have also benefited from his benevolence. Actress, Ify Onuwuemene, who was down with cancer sometime ago, got a million naira to aid her treatment.
And most recently, while attending a function in Abeokuta, Ogun state, he joined gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele while he was performing live on stage at the event. He not only free styled some of Ayefele’s songs, the father of four doled out a bundle of 1000 notes which was said to be in the region of 1 million naira. We could go on and on listing names of people who have shared from the singer’s largesse. Certainly, the story of their lives will be incomplete without Davido boldly inscribed on it.
