SAN FRANCISCO, October 07, (THEWILL) – Belgian professional tennis player, David Goffin has become the latest tennis player to test positive for COVID-19. As a consequence, the 13th seed has pulled out of the ATP 500 tournament in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which starts on Monday, October 12.
Goffin competed in the ongoing French Open and was knocked out of the Slam by Jannik Sinner in the first round. He however insists that he is feeling good at the moment.
On his Instagram handle, the Belgian posted, “Due to a positive result at my last COVID-19 test made yesterday, I am forced to withdraw from St. Petersburg. I feel good up to now, I will quarantine and if everything goes, will be back in Antwerp.”
