SAN FRANISCO, October 13, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal’s superstar footballer, has returned a positive result for coronavirus, the country’s soccer federation announced on Tuesday.
“Following the positive case, the remaining players underwent new tests Tuesday morning,” the federation said in a statement. “All tested negative.”
Ronaldo has therefore been removed from Portugal’s training camp in Lisbon. He will be absent when Portugal face Sweden in the Nations League A Group 3 game on Wednesday, October 14.
The team said Ronaldo was not displaying symptoms at the moment, but adhering to COVID-19 protocols, he was in isolation.
