BEVERLY HILLS, July 29, (THEWILL) – Nigeria Wednesday reported 404 confirmed new cases of the coronavirus to bring the tally in the country to 42, 208, with 19, 004 recoveries and 873 deaths.
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, said Lagos, the center of the pandemic in the country, added 106 of the new cases. The FCT added 54, while Rivers posted 48. See below for a full breakdown.
The NCDC says it has so far tested 272, 748 samples as at July 28, 2020.
THEWILL reports that there is a consensus view that the figures announced by the NCDC do not represent the true state of the pandemic in the country because of its limited testing capacity. The agency’s testing capacity is somewhere around 3, 000 daily, a drop in the ocean if you consider Nigeria’s estimated 200 million population.
