Coronavirus: Nigeria’s CDC Chief Quarantined

BEVERLY HILLS, March 3, (THEWILL) – The Director General of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, has been quarantined in a precautionary move to stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after returning from China, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said Tuesday in a Abuja during a senate briefing.

Ehanire disclosed that the head of the agency has restricted himself to his residence since he returned from China as a delegate of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Wuhan, China to understudy the disease.

Dr. Ihekweazu is expected to be in self isolation for 14-days, he said.

Nigeria has only recorded one confirmed case of the virus.
