BEVERLY HILLS, March 23, (THEWILL) – Nigeria is recalling retired doctors and nurses to help at hospitals as coronavirus cases spike.
Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire announced the move Monday saying that state governments have been directed to reabsorb retirees for the period of the pandemic as part of a reserve pool of health personnel.
The Director-General, Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, Chikwe Ikekweazu, Monday said the country’s biggest risk is coming from returnees from high-risk countries and warned that they are not isolating as directed.
Nigeria has so far has recorded 36 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and one death. Only two persons have recovered from the disease.
