October 30, (THEWILL) – The Abuja residence of Supreme Court Justice, Mary Odili, on Friday was invaded by suspected armed security operatives.

Reports earlier suggested that the operatives arrived at Justice Odili’s Maitama residence and made immediate attempt to break in, but the wife of former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, fervently resisted the attempts to raid her residence by the operatives, telling the operatives that she had no business with them.

The security operatives, THEWILL learnt, showed up at the residence around 5pm.

It was gathered that the security team on the ground in the house, comprising men of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police, prevented the visiting operatives from accessing the property..

As at the time of this report, it was not clear which security agency was at the Odilis’ home, their mission and who their target was.

This is as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has swiftly denied being involved in the reported raid.

A statement by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, dissociated the anti-graft agency from the reported invasion of Justice Odili’s residence.

However, an insider claimed that DSS operatives came to the house; but they were denied entry by the security agents attached to the house, who said the visiting security men did not provide convincing information about their mission.

Dr. Peter Odili, former Governor of Rivers State recently sued the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for seizing his international passport.

The NIS claimed its action flowed from a request from the EFCC.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja ordered the release of the passport in a judgment given on October 18.

Justice Ekwo, who declared the NIS’ action as illegal, ordered the service to among others, publicly apologise to the ex-Governor.
