Conte Assures Quick Return For Romero After Adductor Strain

August 19, (THEWILL) – The initial fears of Cristian Romero’s potential extended absence from the Tottenham Hotspur lineup has been allayed by Spurs’ manager, Antonio Conte.

THEWILL recalls that the Argentine had a muscle injury during the most recent 2-2 draw with Chelsea, during which he got away with pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair, a VAR official’s error that Mike Dean has subsequently acknowledged.

There was uncertainty following the match as reports from Argentina and stories in the English media disagreed about how serious the defender’s injury was. Details about his injury differed about how long he could be out for, with some reports claiming his absence will last for a few days, while others insisted he could be out for a month.

Conte cleared the air saying Romero was ruled out of the upcoming match against Wolves, but he left the door open for a quick comeback. He said: “Cristian had a little problem during the game against Chelsea in the final part of the game. But it’s a little problem. After the game he started to feel a bit of pain in his adductor.

“We checked him, and honestly the player wanted to give his availability but in this type of situation especially as we have a lot of games to play, it would be stupid to take a risk. For this reason he’s not available for the game against Wolves.”
