SAN FRANCISCO, June 20, (THEWILL) – The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen has sworn in Justice Adamu Abdul Kafarati as the substantive Chief Judge of the Federal High Court following his confirmation by the Senate on June 7.

Justice Onnoghen charged Justice Kafarati to always be guided by the Constitution and the rule of law, with which he said he will never go wrong.

He also admonished Kafarati to remain bold, courageous, and firm, explaining that no matter the attacks on the judiciary, it will remain an arbiter between the executive, the legislature and citizens.

“There is no doubt the judiciary remains the only hope of man. And the judiciary can only do that through the rule of law,” he said.

The function, which held at the Supreme Court complex, had Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and traditional rulers in attendance.

Justice Kafarati was born in 1954. He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1975 to 1978; and the Nigerian Law School, Lagos from 1978 to 1979. He became a judge of the Federal High Court on January 31, 1991.
