Chief Bandit Baba Arusa Reportedly Killed In Shootout

November 26, (THEWILL) – Chief bandit, Yellow Baba Arusa, who allegedly led the kidnapping operation on Kaduna-Abuja highway last Sunday has been killed in a shootout with the police.

Arusa was reportedly killed in an ambush staged by the police on Friday.

Although, the police have not issued any statement on the incident, but a Daily Trust report, said, Arusa and four other bandits had gone to buy alcohol and pentazocine, an opioid pain medication, when they ran into police trap, somewhere around Kaduna South Local Government Area.

A motorcycle and a rifle were reportedly recovered from his gang.

The death of Arusa came less than 24 hours after President Buhari gave a sweeping order to security agencies to be merciless.

He had been alleged to have led the attack on Sunday on travellers on the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

Eight people were reportedly abducted, while a former governorship aspirant in Zamfara, Sagir Hamida was killed.
