December 01, (THEWILL) – Vasco de Gama’s 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, is on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Santos’ excellent exploits in Brazil in 2022 have drawn the attention of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. He is in his first full senior season playing in Brazil’s second division and has eight goals from 33 games while forming the foundation of his team’s midfield.
Santos has already been compared to fellow countryman and Newcastle star, Bruno Guimaraes, and Chelsea and PSG are in advanced negotiations on a January transfer for the midfielder.
In order to increase the number of homegrown players in the squad, the new owner, Todd Boehly, is eager to bring in foreign talent early. He has urged Academy Director, Neil Bath, to close the deal.
Chelsea is also interested in 16-year-old Palmeiras prodigy, Endrick, as part of that strategy. The striker has scored three goals in three starts for Palmeiras, but PSG and Real Madrid, two of Europe’s top teams, are going to present very stiff competition for Chelsea for Endrick.
