Charly Boy On Protesters Arrest: These Animals Have Turned Nigeria Into A Jungle, Say No To #Lekkitollgate Reopening

BEVERLY HILLS, February 13, (THEWILL) – Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa aka “Charly Boy,” has raised his voice against the clampdown on and arrest by security operatives of #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters in Lagos today.

He also demanded that the toll gate, the site of the military killing of peaceful #EndSARS protestors on October 20, 2020, should remain out of bounds to fee collectors.

THEWILL had reported how popular comedian, Mr. Macaroni, was arrested alongside others in the early hours of today for turning up for the demonstration.

Reacting to the development, the self-acclaimed “Area Father” took to his Twitter account saying that the action of the security operatives indicated that the country had turned into “a jungle.”

According to him, Nigerians had the right to engage in peaceful protest as stipulated in the Constitution.

He wrote: “I know these animals have turned Nigeria into a Jungle. But peaceful protest is still our human right. Animals can’t dash us human right. Say no to #lekkitollgate reopening.”

In another tweet, the musician who also doubles as an activist condemned the Nigerian government’s approach of clamping down on peaceful protesters anytime they took to the streets to express their grievances.

“A history of rape. A history of rejection. A history of Tribalism. A history of Terror. A history of Corruption. A history of nonentities in governance. A history of Docility. But, enough is enough. Say No to #lekkitollgate reopening,” he added.
