October 13, (THEWILL) – The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Jalingo Local Government Council, Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan, has shown commitment towards remodelling the Council despite the very high demand and many challenges.

Dr Jauro, who said this while receiving members of Worldview Magazine in Jalingo on Wednesday, also said that as many as the challenges are, they are not insurmountable.

“Coming here to the constituency is a new environment but I want to assure you that we would meet up with all the challenges, the demand is very high and challenging but not insurmountable. I will continue to do my best, I have already started doing my best and gradually we will move the local government to another level.

“There are a lot of potentials out there, it is just for one to look at the opportunities and harness them for the benefits of women, children, Jalingo Local Government and invariably the people of Taraba state. I assure you we will continue reaching out to people that matter for the benefit of the good people of Jalingo. Also, we would continue to serve as role models that others will copy”, he said.

While outlining some of the moves he is making towards reforms, Dr Jauro said he has already streamlined a road map of activities that the council is currently embarking on and meetings with different organisations and departments to boost synergy towards achieving their objectives.

“Since assumption, it’s been just about 33 days, but you can see how we remodelled the office, the conference room, and electricity and that is why you can see civil servants all over. I have also streamlined a road map of activities, and a series of meetings with departments of the Council so that we can harmonise our ideas.

“We have gone to TARCMA in the area of road construction. We may not be building roads but we want TARCMA to do more. We have also flagged off a 10 Km road in collaboration with RAW, Rural Access for Women, who are collaborating with the European Union and the State Government is going to give counterpart funding . A survey has been completed, the soil testing is ongoing now and after that construction will commence.

“We have also sent over 15 people, one from each ward to Hope Afresh Foundation for skills acquisition because the three cardinal objectives of my coming are security, entrepreneurship, cooperation /revenue drive. There is a lot of revenue all over the Local Government, but they are poorly tapped. We will unplug those revenues and support services in our Local Government.

“As I am speaking to you, I have already directed my workers to submit three priority activities from each ward, be it rehabilitation, culverts or boreholes. We are doing this with the conviction that God will help us, despite the scarcity of funds”, he stated.

Dr Jauro in his speech appreciated Governor Darius Ishaku for trusting him to man the Jalingo Local Government Council while assuring the Governor of his undying support and cooperation during his stay in office.

Jauro called on other civil and public servants to show commitment and dedication towards the mandate given to them as public service is not just about salaries but sacrifice and service to humanity.

Our Correspondent recalled that Dr Aminu Jauro was pioneer Executive Secretary, Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency, TSPHCDA for Seven years and 8months before his appointment as CTC Chairman of Jalingo Local Government.
