May 26, (THEWILL) – With their first back-to-back wins against the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics won 93-80, moved to 3-2 in the series and within one win of reaching the NBA Finals.
Celtics took advantage of the Heat’s offensive sluggishness in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night at FTX Arena to win. Before the game, the Celtics received good news in the form of Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III returning from injury, while the Heat were without Tyler Herro for the second straight game.
Jayson Tatum, who accumulated 22 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, became the second-youngest player in NBA history to reach 1,500 points in the playoffs, second only to Kobe Bryant.
Miami shot 31.9 percent from the field and a dismal 15.6 percent from three-point range, with Bam Adebayo, who had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, being the only bright spot.
The Eastern Conference Finals moves to Game 6, where Celtics will have a chance to take the series if they can claim a win when they clash next Friday, May 27 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Golden State Warriors, on the other hand, host the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference playoffs on Thursday, leading 3-1 and knowing that a win would send them to the Finals for the first time in three years.
