BEVERLY HILLS, November 11, (THEWILL) – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has declared that there is no crisis between President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Adebayo Oladeji, spokesman for Samson Ayokunle, president of CAN made this known in a statement but added that CAN is not happy about reports on Osinbajo.

On Wednesday, 35 aides attached to the office of the vice-president were sacked, fuelling the speculation of a rift between the president and Osinbajo.

But Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, said the reason for the action was to cut down on the cost of governance.

Speaking with The PUNCH on Sunday, Oladeji said though the vice-president did not tell the association about any rift between himself and the president, there is an element of truth in every rumour.

He advised Buhari and Osinbajo to resolve any differences between them if truly there is a feud.

He also asked the “warring camps” to sheathe their swords, adding that if the 2023 elections is the cause of the problems, then it is too early to predict who will rule Nigeria.

“Both Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the president have told the whole world that the presidency is one and that there is no division,” Oladeji was quoted to have said.

“That, we believe and Prof. Osinbajo has never told CAN that he has a problem with his principal.

“So, as far as we are concerned, there is no crisis between them until we are told otherwise. Be that as it may, we are not happy with what we hear.

“It is said that in every rumour, there is an element of truth. So, if there is any problem between them, we advise them to resolve it.

“If it has to do with 2023 politics, we advise the warring camps to sheathe their swords because 2023 is still far away.

“It is only God that knows who will be there. We are so much in a hurry. We just held elections this year.”
