May 26, (THEWILL) – Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has won the Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial ticket for the 2023 governorship elections.
At the close of ballot, which drew through Wednesday night to the early hours of Thursday, Honourable Mutfwang polled 252 votes to end the ambition of fourteen other aspirants, after four others had voluntarily stepped down and declined to continue the contest.
Analysis of the votes show that a total of 600 votes were cast, and the first runner up, Wungak Kefas, scored 113 votes, while the second runner up, Alfred Dapal Ali, scored 92 votes.
Three of the aspirants with the worst showing polled zero, one, two and three votes, among them a former Ambassador and minister of the Federal Republic.
In his acceptance speech after the declaration of the results, the winner and gubernatorial flag bearer, Caleb Mutfwang, said there is no winner and no vanquished, noting that the victory is for the party, Plateau State and the people of Plateau.
He promised to reach out to all co-contestants, and seek a collaboration, understanding and co-operation that will crystallise the desired synergy for good governance and development.
He said the transparency and credibility of the whole process which encouraged all contenders to accept the outcome, underscores the new positive spirit driving the PDP and caked on the generality of the people to leverage on this and vote the PDP to power in 2023 to enthrone a repositioned Plateau State.
