SAN FRANCISCO, August 6, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has scheduled the induction, swear-in and assigning of portfolios to the ministers-designate after the Salah holiday slated for August 12 and 13.

According to our source, the Presidency will first organise a retreat for the 43 ministerial nominees recently cleared by the Senate scheduled to hold in Abuja on August 15 and 16 before their official inauguration into the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha in a new release Tuesday formally confirmed that the swearing-in has been scheduled for August 21.

In his previous statement he said the ministerial appointees will attend the retreat with copies of their credentials.

The ministers-designate were also urged to visit the OSGF from Tuesday, August 6, for the collection of relevant documents for their study and guidance, preparatory to the inauguration.

He added that the ministers-designate were to study the documents such as status report on policies, programmes and projects, the 2019-2023 road map, FEC handbook, and so on before their official inauguration.

“Following confirmation by the Senate, All Ministers Designate are by this NOTICE informed that relevant documents for their study and guidance, preparatory to the inauguration of the Cabinet shall be available for collection at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) (Cabinet Affairs Office) from 10.00am on Tuesday August 6, 2019,” the statement read.

“Ministers Designate are also requested to please bring along and submit to the OSGF, their updated CV in soft and hard copies as well as any valid identification document.

“Finally, I am pleased to inform you that, in view of the need to allow Ministers Designate enough time to study the documents (Status Report on Policies, Programmes and Projects; the 2019-2023 Road Map, FEC Handbook, etc) and considering the upcoming Sallah break, His Excellency, Mr. President has approved an INDUCTION RETREAT for Ministers Designate to be held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja from August 15-16, 2019.”

THEWILL recalls that President Buhari forwarded the names of the 43 ministerial nominees, in the evening of Monday, July 22, to the Senate for confirmation and they were all cleared by the Senate on Tuesday, July 30.

The lawmakers spent five days screening all the nominees. And of the 43 nominees screened, 22 were given the “take a bow and go” treatment. This was done based on legislative background, gender, as well as loyalty.
