Buhari Presides Over National Security Council Meeting At Villa

July 08, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with security chiefs and ministers at State House, Abuja.

The meeting is said to be connected to the prison break, which saw over 600 inmates escape, including Boko Haram insurgents.

Present at the meeting are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Others attending the security meeting include the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and some cabinet Ministers.

All of the security and service chiefs are present at the meeting except the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, who is represented at the meeting.

It is understood that the meeting would deliberate on the nation’s security challenges from the attack on the advance convoy of the President in Katsina State on Tuesday evening and the invasion of Kuje Prison.

Recall that Buhari had on Wednesday, visited the facility, where he expressed disappointment with the nation’s intelligence system.

After inspecting some of the points impacted by the attack, Buhari expressed disappointment with the intelligence system and its utilisation.
