BEVERLY HILLS, February 25, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday hosted the newly appointed Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, at the State House, Aso Rock.

Bawa received the endorsement of the Senate a day before, confirming the 40-year old EFCC detective as the first substantive Chairman of the anti-graft agency in five years.

The agency’s new helmsman replaced its former Acting Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, who was denied the Senate’s endorsement over adverse security reports on his integrity and was removed in controversial circumstances last year.

After the photo ops, the media were excused and Bawa and Buhari went into a closed meeting, which had the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in attendance.
