September 02, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a new salary scale for the National Identify Management Commission (NIMC), raising the total personnel cost of the agency from about N5.3 billion to 16.7 Billion annually.

The president also approved a new condition of service for the commission, which hitherto had the lowest salaries and emoluments of all the digital transformation agencies.

Presenting the new salary scale and condition of service to the NIMC staff and management on Thursday in Abuja, the Minister of Communication and Digital Technology, Prof. Ibrahim Ali Isa Pantami, said the previous salary scale and condition of service enjoyed by the agency were not commensurate with the work it delivered.

It is mandated to operate and regulate matters of national identity in Nigeria with services covering the national identification number (NIN) enrolment and issuance, national e-ID card issuance, identity verification, and data harmonisation and authentication.
