Buhari Appoints Baba As New Inspector General of Police

BEVERLY HILLS, April 06, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has named Usman Alkali Baba as acting Inspector General of Police pending his confirmation.

He replaces Mohammed Adamu whose tenure was previously extended by the President.

A Deputy Inspector-General, Baba’s new appointment takes immediate effect, according to the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who spoke to State House correspondents on Tuesday.
Alkali, an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano and the University of Maiduguri, was born in 1963.

He joined the Nigerian Police in March 1988.

The president had on the 4th of February, extended the tenure of Adamu as the Inspector General of Police for three months out of which the erstwhile police boss spent two months and three days.

TheWill reports that insecurity in the country has deteriorated to levels not seen in decades.
