November 22, (THEWILL) – Worldwide sensation BTS, Doja Cats and Megan Thee Stallion all won three awards each at the 2021 American Music Award which held yesterday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
While they took home the top honour for artist of the year along with awards for favorite pop duo or group and favorite pop song for their hit single Butter, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion both scored three wins each.
BTS won the Artist of the Year, making them the first Asian group in the history of the American Music Awards to win that award.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift broke her own record when she won favorite female pop artist for the seventh time and topped her previous record for most AMA wins of all time.
She also won for best pop album for her album Evermore during the show and now has 34 AMA trophies
Hosted by Cardi B, the 49th edition of the annual award show recognizes the most popular artists, singles and albums in the year in view.
