October 23, (THEWILL) – When Manchester United hosts Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, Bruno Fernandes could be missing from the starting XI.
The club announced that Fernandes suffered an injury in the 3-2 UEFA Champions League victory over Atalanta.
Although Fernandes went into Carrington for warm-up training on Thursday after the Atalanta game, by the afternoon, the extent of his exertions had clearly caught up with him, and he was limping heavily.
At his pre-match press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the influential Portuguese playmaker could be unavailable to face Liverpool.
“Games like Wednesday night are always going to bring knocks and bruises and we do have two or three carrying knocks from that game. I’ll give everyone time, I hope I can pick from a fully fit squad, I might be without two or three,” Solskjaer said.
“Bruno might be a doubt but he’s doing everything he can to be ready.”
Fernandes will be evaluated ahead of Liverpool’s visit, and a late decision will be made on whether he is fit enough to play.
