Breaking: Zamfara’s 300 Abducted Schoolgirls Regain Freedom

BEVERLY HILLS, March 01, (THEWILL) – Over 300 female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata in Zamfara State abducted on Friday by bandits have been released.

The over 300 abducted students, who spent three days in captivity, regained their freedom after their captors released them in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, disclosed news of the release of the students in his official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

“Alhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe,” he tweeted.

They have been received at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.

Bandits had in the early hours of Friday attacked the girls-only school in Jangebe, Talata Mafara local Government Area of Zamfara State and abducted over 300 students.

Reports said seven of the girls managed to escape during their long trek into the kidnappers’ den.
