September 16, (THEWILL) – Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fani-Kayode was Special Assistant before becoming Minister during the President Olusegun Obasanjo government.
FFK, as he is popularly called, met President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.
He went to the Villa, accompanied by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the APC, and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Fani-Kayode, a rabid critic of APC and Buhari, made his defection declaration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja after he was presented to Buhari as a member of the APC.
The former spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council was introduced to the President by the Governor Buni and his Zamfara State counterpart, Governor Bello Matawalle.
Fani-Kayode, who explained that he had been a founding member of APC, said he returned to the party for the unity of the country.
He said he was wooing the governors of Oyo, Bauchi and Enugu states, Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed and Ifeanyi Uguanyi respectively to also join APC.
He said whatever opinion people may have about his credibility because of his constant change of parties was up to them.
“Today at the State House, Abuja: Somebody has come and joined the APC. And a large-hearted and magnanimous President received him. Because that’s the essential Buhari for you,” a presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, posted on Facebook.
