July 30, (THEWILL) – The Court of Appeal in Calabar, on Friday, declared Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as the duly elected Senator for the Cross River North Senatorial District.
The ruling removes Senator Steven Odey who currently represents the senatorial district in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The court held that Jarigbe was the lawful candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the December 5, 2020 by-election for the Cross River North Senatorial District.
The three-man Appeal Tribunal headed by Hon. Justice Chioma I. Nwosu also invalidated the certificate of return earlier issued to Steven Odey by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and directed it should be withdrawn.
