BREAKING: Anthony Joshua’s Reign Is Over; Usyk Is New World Heavyweight Boxing Champion

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

September 25, (THEWILL) – A few moments ago on Saturday, the much-anticipated world heavyweight boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and challenger Oleksandr Usyk came to a close, with the British-Nigerian-born champion losing by unanimous points decision.

All three judges awarded a win to the Ukrainian, Usyk: 117-112, 116-112, 115-113

The new champion broke down in tears following the announcement, a fitting crown on just his second bout in the heavyweight rank.

Joshua could hardly contain the aggression Usyk brought into the fight and his right eye was badly injured towards the close of their 12-round encounter.

The match went all of 12 rounds and the underdog put the world champion on the defensive much of the night, and fittingly matched out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ring decorated with the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles erstwhile worn by Joshua.

Until the night, Usyk held supreme at the Cruiserweight, where he unified all world titles, with an unblemished record of never having been defeated in his professional career.

Like Joshua, Usyk is an Olympic gold medallist.

The former champion was suffering the second loss of his career.
