SAN FRANCISCO, February 09, (THEWILL) – The feud between Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, and his predecessor, Alhaji Ali Modu-Sherrif, is now a thing of the past as the two leaders have put their differences behind them in the interest of the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha, who disclosed this on Sunday said the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is now solid and well-positioned to win the 2015 governorship election in the state.

Lamenting that he became a victim of the feud between the two leaders in the struggle for the soul of APC in the state,Mustapha expressed satisfaction and joy that the two leaders have been reconciled and have resolved to work together in the interest of the people of the state.

The deputy governor, who spoke at his Biu country home after obtaining his APC membership card, said both leaders have resolved “to put the past behind and work together for the good of the state and success of APC.”

According to Mustapha, “Everything has come to an end now. As I am talking to you now, Sheriff is in Maiduguri and already discussing with my boss to move ahead.

“The good thing is that throughout this crisis, my boss, Gov. Kashim Shettima, did not say any negative thing about the former governor, Ali Sheriff.

“My boss has always said Sheriff is the father of all of us and we see him as such. No quarrel again, we are one.”

Mustapha, who blame some politicians for fueling what he described as a “family misunderstanding,” said “some politicians loyal to both leaders were engaged in disseminating rumour and falsehood among supporters of the governor and his predecessor to heighten the crisis.”

He added that the media only took advantage of the bickering to get their news.

He however said disagreement is normal in politics, though admitting that operating while the hostility lasted between Shettima and Modu-Sherrif were quite challenging for him and other stakeholders.

“I was operating between the two leaders and I must confess it was a difficult thing because I found myself in a situation where we the former All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) family see the former governor as the father of all and my boss, Gov Shettima as our leader.

“But as a deputy governor, I was loyal to my boss and we continue to be loyal,” he said .

He therefore advised politicians to jettison acts that could jeopardise the emerging peace in the state and work for the interest of the people of the state.
