Bonmati, Caldentey Score Two Apiece As Barca Beat Rosengärd 4-1

October 27, (THEWILL) – With two goals each from Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey, Barça defeated a spirited Rosengärd 1-4 to earn their second victory in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Marta Torrejón became the first player to play 63 games for the club in the competition as the Catalans dominated the match, especially the first half and the home team had to deal with pressure from Aitana and Asisat Oshoala, before Aitana skillfully completed a lengthy passing move to break the deadlock after 30 minutes.

The only drawback of the first half was that Graham Hansen had to leave the field because of pain in her thigh. Aitana curled in a beautiful low shot just inside the post to double Barca’s lead. However, Rosengärd responded with a goal from the edge of the box to make it 2-1 going into halftime.

With a stunning long-range goal over goalie Teagan Micah from inside the centre circle, Mariona put an end to any hopes of a home team comeback.

Irene Paredes struck the post while Aitana and Oshoala were both denied by Micah, as Barca went in search of more goals. Micah was alert to deflect a goal-bound free kick from Claudia Pina, only for Mariona to score to make the final result 4-1.
