SAN FRANCISCO, August 01, (THEWILL) – The military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State, Operation Restore Order, has warned of fresh attacks by the Boko Haram sect during the forthcoming Eid- El- Fitri celebration, saying every resident of the state must be on alert.
A statement to this effect issued on Thursday by its spokesman, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said: “In the continued efforts to destroy all acts of terrorism in Borno State, the Joint Task Force (JTF) wishes to alert citizens and residents of the State of the impending plans by Boko Haram terrorists to carry out massive attacks and bombings in Maiduguri metropolis and other parts of Borno State any moment from now and during the Idel – Fitr Sallah celebration.
“Accordingly, the Task Force requests members of the public to be more concerned and vigilant about the happenings in and around their immediate environment. The public is also reminded to be cautious and to report any suspicious movement, actions and abandoned objects in public places particularly those in polythene bags and other sacks to the nearest security check points for immediate action.
“The JTF further reminds the people of Borno State that although the curfew has been reviewed to 11 pm – 6 am daily, checks are continuously been conducted throughout the night in order to ensure safety, security of lives and properties as well as consolidating on the successes recorded so far in our collective fight against terrorism.”
