SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – A 49-year old man has been released on bail after simulating sex with a woman’s corpse at her own funeral.
The man, ‘Bigman’ Sipiliano is accused of mounting the body of 20-year-old Melisa Mazhindu in front of horrified mourners at the funeral in Muguta, Epworth in Zimbabwe.
According to Nahanda Radio, who obtained a copy of the police report, Sipiliano entered a room containing Ms Mazhindu’s body, which was being looked over by her mother and two female mourners.
Sipiliano was reportedly drinking beer and smoking cigarettes inside the room for an unspecified amount of time along with another man, who was not named.
“Greetings elders, you know I loved this lady but she has gone before I had slept with her. However, it is not too late, I can still have intercourse with her before she’s buried, I am ready”, Sipiliano told the mourners
The grieving mum, 47-year-old Mrs Phillipa Mazhindu, tried to intervene, but couldn’t stop him from removing a white cloth covering the young woman’s corpse. He said he had wanted to sleep with her 20-year-old daughter for a long time.
Mrs Mazhindu told reporters, “He said that even if she was dead, there would be nothing wrong with him fulfilling his desires.
“He proceeded to uncover the corpse, which was lying in the room, slept on top of it, and made up and down movements simulating sex whilst his friend blocked us from interfering.”
While he reportedly remained clothed, “the other man he had entered the room with held back the three female mourners as they tried to intervene”, the police report stated.
Other guests at the funeral heard the women screaming and came to intervene. He told the mourners that he loved Melisa and felt sad that she died before they had sexual intercourse.
Both men were arrested and charged with violating corpses. They face up to five years in prison plus a hefty fine if found guilty, according to Zimlii.
Sipiliano was released on bail and fined Zimbabwean $5,000 – around £10. He was also ordered to remain at his residence and forbidden from seeing any witnesses. He will go to trial Februrary 8.
Mrs Mazhindu, said she believed there could be a magical motive behind the bizarre attack.
“How will I manage to live with this kind of trauma? I suspect these men had a ritual intention because when Bigman was searched by neighbours who came to my rescue, they discovered a dead rat, red cloth, and a plant root in his pockets”, she said.
