June 09, (THEWILL) – Belgium defeated Poland 6-1 in the Nations League on Wednesday, bouncing back from a thrashing by the Netherlands.

On Friday, Roberto Martinez’s team lost 4-1 to the Oranje, but a much-improved performance at the King Baudouin Stadium, in Brussels, saw them back to winning ways in Group A4.

Although they first went behind via Robert Lewandowski’s 28th-minute opener, Axel Witsel’s magnificent effort from outside the penalty area brought them level before halftime.

Kevin De Bruyne added to Belgium’s advantage after the break. A double from substitute, Leandro Trossard, a long-range shot from Leander Dendoncker, and a late sixth from Lois Openda, sealed the win for the Belgians.

After two games so far played in the Nations League, Belgium are second in the table for Group A4 behind the group leaders the Netherlands. Poland also has three points, but is third based on them having a negative goal difference.
