March 10, (THEWILL) – Malik Beasley set a Timberwolves team record with 11 3-pointers and ended with 33 points to help Minnesota win its sixth straight game, 132-102, over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.
After Beasley made his final three, his Timberwolves teammates on the bench showered him with water and Gatorade. As he exited the game following the record-setting basket, the home crowd at Target Center chanted his name thunderously.
Beasley, whose 17 shots from the field all came from 3-point range, said after the historic game: “It was a great moment. We have a great team and teammates, who care about one another. It was huge to be a part of that.”
Midway through the fourth quarter, Beasley tied Anthony Edwards’ team record with his 10th 3-pointer, a step-back bucket. Beasley took three shots to break the previous record, with his 11th coming with the shot clock winding down as he sunk a shot over Thunder guard Vt Krej’s outstretched arm.
“It was crazy. In my head I was like, ‘This is lit,’ and it was off the dribble, too, so that made it even better.”
He sat out the final 4:57 of the game, leaving him three 3-pointers short of Klay Thompson’s NBA record.
“If I had more time, I definitely would have broken that record”, Beasley said.
