BEVERLY HILLS, May 08, (THEWILL) – For the ninth straight season, Bavarian giants Bayern Munich have been confirmed as Bundesliga champions. This comes ahead of their Saturday fixture against Borussia Monchengladbach and is made sweeter because the celebrations can begin without the team needing to kick the ball.

Bayern’s season has had its highs and lows but they have been just as dominant to the point that all that was needed for their coronation as champions was for their nearest challengers RB Leipzig to fail to beat their other rivals Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in the earlier kick off.

In that tie, Englishman Jadon Sancho, who is wanted by some of Europe’s biggest sides including back home in Manchester, scored late to clinch victory for Dortmund in the 3-2 win.

In a dramatic twist, the current manager of Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann, is due to take over the mantle of leading the champions at the end of this season when Hansi Flick leaves Bayern this summer having led the club to two Bundesliga titles and a magnificent sextuple last season.

Nagelsmann’s current side presently have no way of reaching the seven points gap between them and Bayern with only two games left and a possible six points. That easily grants Bayern the trophy, making them the undisputed kings of Germany for the ninth consecutive campaign.

They have, in that achievement, earned a German top-flight record, despite a very spirited effort from RB Leipzig. Flick’s side have suffered just four league defeats all season with the goals of goal-machine, Robert Lewandowski, in particular firing them on, even if the Pole was out for a month of action after straining ligaments in his knee. He is currently the league’s top scorer again with 36 goals in 26 outings.

Speculations about where Flick will continue his managerial career continue to circulate since he announced he would be stepping down as Bayern boss. The conclusion of many is that he will replace German national team manager, Joachim Low, who also has confirmed his decision to quit the German national team after Euro 2020. But, there is no certainty if that will happen at the moment.

For now, they will go into their match on Saturday against Borussia Monchengladbach as nine-time champions and celebrate all through the rest of the night for a deserving victory as their dominance of German football continues for another season.
