BEVERLY HILLS, May 03, (THEWILL) – The Bauchi State Government has raised the alarm over the infiltration of four of its local government areas by suspected Boko Haram members on the heels of the vandalisation of a telecommunications mast in Gamawa.

It identified the affected councils as Gamawa, Zaki, Dambam and Darazo.

The government said the influx of people from neighboring Yobe, where a recent attack was carried out by Boko Haram in the Geidam community, might have made the affected communities vulnerable to attacks by the terrorists.

Addressing newsmen at the Government House, Bauchi, on Monday shortly after a security meeting between the Governor and head of security agencies, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sabiu Baba, said five people had been arrested in connection with the mast’s vandalisation.

But he said the state government was working round the clock to beef up security surveillance around neighbouring communities.

The SSG also said Governor Bala Mohammed had provided the needed support for security agencies to intensify patrol and surveillance, particularly in the vulnerable communities sharing borders with Yobe.
