SAN FRANCISCO, November 22, (THEWILL) – Sequel to THEWILL report about injury concerns at the La Liga club Barcelona in their Saturday defeat to Atletico Madrid, the Catalan side has made public official statements of the medical conditions of full-back Sergi Roberto and centre back Gerard Pique.
According to the club, full medical tests have been carried out on both players to determine both the statuses of their conditions and the timelines of their recoveries.
While it was clearer when Roberto will return, “two months” the club statement pointed out, Pique’s more acute situation made it difficult to project the length of time for which he will be sidelined. Barca said his will be conditioned on the evolution of the situation.
Posted on their social media handle, the statement read:
“Tests performed this Sunday on @SergiRoberto10 have shown that he has a rupture in the femoral rectus of his right thigh. The approximate time he will be out is two months.
“Tests carried out this Sunday on @3gerardpique have shown that he has a grade 3 sprain in the internal lateral ligament and partial injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”
THEWILL had earlier reported that these latest woes will place extra burdens on the Blaugrana side having trouble keeping goals out at the back and scoring goals in front while already contending with other injury concerns, especially on the young talented goal-scorer Ansu Fati, who is still out with a knee injury.
