October 21, (THEWILL) – Twenty-eight students and two teachers of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi state who were abducted by bandits, have regained freedom.

The victims, abducted four months ago by gunmen who overpowered security men on guard at the school located in the remote community in Kebbi State, were released on Wednesday October 20, by a notorious bandit identified as Dogo Gide.

The victims who were expected to be released last week were held by the bandits as the process could not be perfected due to the inability of mediators to meet with the kingpin.

However on Sunday October 17, two students and two teachers were brought out from the forests and received by security personnel and medics stationed at Kotonkoro town.

THEWILL reports that 28 students and two teachers have now been released and arrived at Kotonkoro around 8:30pm on Wednesday.

“From Kotonkoro, they will be taken to Kontagora, before they are transported tomorrow (this morning) to Birnin Kebbi”, a source, who confirmed the development said.
