December 29, (THEWILL) – Suspected bandits have attacked Gada community in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
The district head of the community, Umaru Bawan-Allah, and his two sons were reportedly killed, while several other persons were abducted by the bandits.
The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, who confirmed the incident, said the bandits also razed down the district head’s home.
“The security agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force are currently on the trail of the bandits,” Dosara stated.
An indigene of the community said the assailants invaded the area in the early hours of Wednesday and unleashed mayhem on residents.
Gada community is about seven kilometres from Bungudu town, the headquarters of the local government.
The incident occurred about three months after the Emir of Bungudu, Hassan Attahiru, was abducted by bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.
Attahiru, who was kidnapped in September, spent 32 days in the custody of his abductors before he was released.
