Ayade Emerges PDP Consensus Governorship Candidate In Cross River

SAN FRANCISCO, December 06, (THEWILL) – Senator Benedict Ayade, 45, has emerged the consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, confirming THEWILL’s previous exclusive report that he had been adopted by incumbent state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, to succeed him in office in 2015.

Ayade was formally adopted at a meeting late Friday night after other aspirants stepped down for him.

The meeting, which held at the Peregrino Hall, Government Lodge, Calabar, was presided over by Imoke.

A first term senator, representing Cross River North Senatorial District at the Senate, where he is the Vice-Chairman of the Senate committee on Environment and Ecology, Ayade was born on March 2, 1969.

He studied at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he earned a PH.D in Environmental Microbiology (1990-1994), MSC (Microbiology) 1989-1990, and Bsc. (Hons) 1984-1988.

He earned an MBA (2000-2002) from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State and earned an LL.B degree (2006-2010) from the Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State, and later lectured as a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the institution.
