Atletico President Cerezo Rules Out Club’s Interest In Ronaldo

July 27, (THEWILL) – Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid, has deemed it “practically impossible” for Cristiano Ronaldo to transfer to the former La Liga champions from Manchester United.

The ex-Real Madrid forward has only spent one season back in Manchester, and it has been a recurring notion in the entire transfer period that he wants to leave Old Trafford after the Red Devils missed out on the 2022/2023 Champions League.

He has been linked with elite European teams, including Chelsea and Bayern Munich and, more recently, Atletico Madrid.

However, Cerezo outrightly ruled out that eventuality when he spoke recently. He said: “I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid. It’s definitely not true. It is practically impossible for him to come to Atletico Madrid.”

As THEWILL reported on Tuesday, Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes met at United’s training facility for crucial discussions on his future. It is coincidental that all part of their preparation for the 2022/2023 season, Atletico will take on United in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
