Atiku Meets CAN Leaders In Abuja

November 22, (THEWILL) – The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday, met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in Abuja.

The meeting is part of the ongoing engagement by the Christian leaders with presidential candidates contesting the 2023 general election.

Atiku, was accompanied to the meeting by his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and the PDP national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.

Others in the entorage included Governor of Taraba State, Dairus Ishaku; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo; Chief Tom Ikimi; Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications Plc, Dr Raymond Dokpesi;

Former governor of Cross River, Liyel Imoke; Senator Philip Aduda, Senator Dino Melaye, Timi Alaibe, Kenneth Imasuagbon, Dele Momodu, Boni Haruna, other party Chieftains were also among the delegation.

Revealing the outcome of the meeting on his verified Facebook page, the former vice president described the parley as ‘rewarding’ for both parties.

He said his plans to ‘Recover Nigeria’ especially on restructuring the country, appeared to align with the demands of the apex Christian body.

“I have just concluded my interactive session with the Christian Association of Nigeria. It was a rewarding experience for me and the leadership of CAN.

“My policy prescriptions to RECOVER Nigeria appears to align with the demands of the association greatly.

“We all agreed that there needs to be a restructured Nigeria that will be more inclusive and more secured with greater opportunities for citizens to fulfil their interests irrespective of tribe, tongue or mode of worship.

“Above all, I stressed the inevitability of CHANGING the CHANGE that has, in the past seven years plus, led us to a socio-economic and political cul de sac.

“I thank the National Executive Committee of CAN for the opportunity to share my thoughts with them on the pathway to a New Nigeria. I look forward to other engagements with other critical stakeholders in the country in our quest to Recover Nigeria. -AA”, he wrote.
