BEVERLY HILLS, January 18, (THEWILL) – Super Falcons captain and FC Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala, on Sunday, broke the painful news of the loss of her stepmother to the cold hands of death. The 26-year-old striker shared her unfortunate loss with her followers through her Instagram account @asisat_oshoala.

In a video of her dearly departed step mother, which she shared and which has been swarmed by messages of consolation and emotions of love and concern from friends and fans of the striker alike, Oshoala poured out her feelings in heartfelt words, thus:

“Sometimes, life just hit us in hard places we can’t respond” to which she included a crying emoji and the hashtag #StepMomLikeNoOther

She also put up a video in her Instagram Story where, in a voice laden by the sense of the weight of her loss, she could be heard saying: “I still find it difficult to accept, but this is my reality, Allahu Alam. Mummy, I am so short of words right now.

“I have heard lots of ‘It has happened, it has happened’, ‘There is nothing you can do to bring her back’, ‘You’re a strong girl’ … I just can’t process these lines. Mummy, you are not gone; it is not possible.”

As a dutiful daughter raised on the principles of hard work, discipline and unwavering determination in the face of obstacles, Oshoala promised her late stepmother that she would be unrelenting in chasing all her dreams in memory of her, with words punctuated with tears.

“Had two mothers, now I’m left with just one,” Oshoala wrote on her Instagram story.
