November 02, (THEWILL) – The news that La Liga powerhouse, Barcelona, is interested in hiring Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, broke recently and Arteta had to come out to confirm his pleasure with his current situation at the Emirates Stadium.

This week, it was claimed in the Spanish media that Barcelona, while happy with their present manager, Xavi Hernandez, were keeping an eye on Arteta, since they were so impressed with his achievement in rebuilding the team, which is something they are currently seeking to achieve at Camp Nou.

Arteta, a former player, who attended the Camp Nou Academy, quickly dismissed the rumours when asked what he thought of them. He said: “What I can say is I am happy and proud to be where I am,” he told a press conference. I think that Barcelona are now on a really good path, I think they have a phenomenal coach – a coach that has been an absolute legend in the club and has lifted the whole place. I think you have to be very respectful of that.”

Arteta had a successful playing career before joining the management team at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, the former Barcelona manager, and taking his first step into senior management at Arsenal in late 2019.

The Spaniard was heavily criticised in the beginning, as people questioned whether he was prepared for such a demanding position. However, after months of difficulties, Arteta has proven to be a top coach, guiding his Gunners team to the top of the English Premier League.
