October 11, (THEWILL) – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is rumoured to be considering a move away from Liverpool, with Arsenal being one of the clubs linked with a move for him.

The 28-year-old has not started a Premier League game since the opening weekend and has just played eight minutes of league action in the last six games, despite a serious injury to fellow midfielder Harvey Elliott.

It is a continuation of his battle for playing time last season, when he returned from a catastrophic knee injury to start only two of the 27 Premier League games he was eligible for.

It is a continuation of his battle for playing time last season, when he returned from a catastrophic knee injury to start only two of the 27 Premier League games he was eligible for.

According to reports monitored by THEWILL, Oxlade-Chamberlain is increasingly anxious that regular minutes at Anfield may never be an option for him, and while he would want to stay at the club, he understands that leaving may be his only option.

The 28-year-old wants to play more football and force his way back into the England squad while he still has the chance, and he believes he will have to leave Liverpool to do it.

If the midfielder becomes available, Arsenal could approach him about a possible transfer.

The Gunners did sign Albert Sambi Lokonga in the summer, but they were also looking for a second midfielder after failed attempts to recruit Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

Meanwhile, Klopp is hesitant to let Oxlade-Chamberlain go because he values his contribution as an off-field presence as well as a player, but with 18 months left on his contract, the Reds may want to cash in while they still can.

While he may want to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain, the manager has been advised that he must sell players before he can sign new ones. There is the possibility of seizing the opportunity to sell his eighth-choice midfielder to consider, also.

Fabinho, Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner are all sure of getting more minutes than Oxlade-Chamberlain when he returns from an ankle injury, while youthful Elliott will also jump ahead of him in the pecking order when he returns to the squad as well.
