November 05, (THEWILL) – Arsenal and Fiorentina have had promising initial conversations about a transfer for sought striker Dusan Vlahovic, albeit the player and his representation are not in a hurry to accept an offer.

The 21-year-old has been in sensational form for the Viola this calendar year, scoring 25 goals in just 35 Serie A games and generating lots of attention from across Europe.

Arsenal is one of the teams that has been associated with Vlahovic on a frequent basis in recent months. The Gunners are reportedly keen to sign the Serbia international as soon as January, and appear willing to pay Viola’s €80 million (£68.5 million) asking price.

After representatives from Fiorentina travelled to London this week, the two clubs are said to have reached an “initial agreement” though the striker and his agency are not actually in a hurry and are waiting to see what other offers arrive in due course.

In October, it was discovered that Vhlahovic had turned down an offer to extend his contract with the Viola and to become the club’s highest-paid player, prompting them to slap a €80 million price tag on his head.

Fiorentina are eager to find a solution as quickly as possible in order to maximise their revenues and plan for the future, as the forward’s current contract expires in 2023.

As he weighs his options, Arsenal will face stiff competition for Vlahovic’s signature. Manchester City, Juventus, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund have all been named in the reports relating to the striker and his contract situation with Fiorentina.

Arsenal are looking for a new striker because Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expires next summer and his future at the Emirates Stadium is unknown, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is 32 years old.
