June 13, (THEWILL) – Marquinhos, a Brazilian youth international, has joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo and has been confirmed by the north London club.
The 19-year-old winger comes for an undisclosed amount after making 33 professional appearances for the Brazilian club, with whom he won the Paulista Campeonato last season and has signed a long-term contract with Arsenal.
Arsenal’s technical director Edu revealed that Marquinhos is a player the Gunners have been watching: “We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while,” he told the club’s official website.
“At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us.”
